The match got off to a nervy start as both sides lost their opening serve. However, in a closely contested first set that GSU flattered to deceive as they led 8-7 and 16-14 at the first and second technical time out respectively, it is KPA who put themselves ahead as they stole the opener.
After trailing throughout the match, the Sammy Mulinge coached side emerged out of their shells and restored parity at 22-22 before they took a first time lead in the match immediately after that they did not let slip as they closed out the 25-23 win.
With momentum on their side, the log leaders came out for the second set a reinvigorated side that had belief as they completely outplayed the paramilitary side in the second set that they won 25-14.

That trend continued in the third set where they took advantage of poor blocking from KPA as they sealed a 25-17 victory to seal the comfortable victory that ended GSU's nine match winning streak.
"I am really happy with the team's performance in the match today. We came knowing that GSU are a very good side in the match so we made a lot of intense preparations. We had very good receptions and service games in the match and that gave us an advantage which we capitalized on," KPA head coach Sammy Mulinge said.
"I have to accept how the results played out today. Nothing worked for us completely in the game. So many things were not right and we ended up on the losing side. We still have two matches on Saturday and Sunday and hopefully by then we'll have rectified our areas of mistake," Gideon Tarus, GSU head coach said after the game.
Following the win, KPA, who are in first place on the standings, moved to 34 points on the log while GSU stayed in second on 26 points before the other matches scheduled for Friday are completed.
